Celebrating Ten Years

This October, the Missouri Aviation Historical Society celebrates ten years of continued operations throughout the state of Missouri. What started as a few people in a basement, guided only by their love of aviation, morphed into one of the regions foremost authorities on aviation history.

A fully certified federal 501c3 organization, the Missouri Aviation Historical Society boasts over 130 formal members and an online audience spanning thirty countries since 2013. The society has thus far held over one hundred free presentations to the general public on a variety of local aviation and military history. A book, in conjunction with the Missouri History Museum Press on the history of Lambert Field, was published in 2016 and has thus far sold over 550 copies. Contributions and bridging relationships to help propel a variety of projects has become one of the most rewarding aspects of the society’s network- Most recently working with producers of ‘The Age of Aerospace’ for the Discovery network. Over twenty school-based events have been partnered with to promote careers in the S.T.E.M. field. Lastly, multiple veterans have been recognized for their contributions to their country. In 2018, a formal ‘Missouri Aviation Hall of Fame’ will be established within the state, along with a revamped website with free access to archive material.

None of this would be possible without the contributions, participation, and hard work by our membership, volunteers, and community partners. We invite everyone to join us on Thursday, October 19th as we celebrate Missouri aviation history. Light appetizers, cake, door prizes, a 50.50, and much more will round out the celebration. Admission is free to all- View driving directions.
